IFHV Organizes Humanitarian Training Course on “MEAL in Anticipatory Humanitarian Action” in Bochum
The IFHV organized a training course for humanitarian practitioners on “MEAL in Anticipatory Humanitarian Action” that took place on 5 and 6 June in Bochum. The workshop was hosted by the Academy of the Ruhr-University Bochum and facilitated by Karen Dall and Anita Auerbach from the German Red Cross as well as Clemens Gros from the Red Cross Red Crescent Climate Centre.
Over the course of two days, the 16 participants from different humanitarian NGOs received a comprehensive introduction to the particular aspects related to monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning (MEAL) in anticipatory action projects. The training was part of IFHV’s and VENRO’s joint capacity sharing project that supports German humanitarian NGOs and local partner organizations in their efforts to implement future-oriented reforms and approaches like anticipatory humanitarian action, to drive innovation as well as to enhance sustainability and efficiency.
As all of the IFHV’s courses for humanitarian practitioners, it was advertised under the umbrella of the academy for humanitarian action (aha), a platform for humanitarian training courses that the IFHV co-founded in 2020. Via the aha, humanitarian practitioners cannot only register for individual courses of interest, but also pursue a structured certification program in three focus areas, including anticipatory action.
