Knut Ipsen Lecture Series: The Juridification of Humanitarian Space
The Knut Ipsen Lecture Series returns: This year's edition kicks off with a lecture by Professor Kristin Bergtora Sandvik on "The Juridification of Humanitarian Space" on 23 April 2024, 4 p.m. (CEST).
The Juridification of Humanitarian Space
More activities within the humanitarian sector are now regulated by law, with conflicts increasingly resolved through legal means, and the legal profession playing a larger role beyond IHL. Sandvik's lecture explores the ambivalence towards these emerging changes and prompts a discussion about how humanitarians must react to them and what role academia needs to play. You can learn more about it in her corresponding Verfassungsblog post.
Professor Sandvik is a Research Professor at the Peace and Research Institute Oslo (PRIO) and Professor of Law at University of Oslo. Her research focuses inter alia on regulation and legal mobilization in the context of the digital transformation, gender-based violence, humanitarian emergencies, and terror.
