Thielbörger comments on the 75th anniversary of the Geneva Convention in NJW

In his article in the Neue Juristische Wochenschrift (NJW), Prof. Dr. Pierre Thielbörger discusses the 75th anniversary of the Geneva Conventions, which regulate international humanitarian law (IHL).

Despite ongoing wars around the world, Thielbörger highlights the continued relevance of the Geneva Conventions as a significant achievement. First adopted in 1949, these conventions establish key principles such as the protection of civilians and the distinction between military and civilian targets. Thielbörger points out that, despite criticisms, IHL is largely enforceable and emphasizes that it must adapt to new forms of warfare, such as those in cyberspace, and act with greater confidence.
