Thielbörger interviewed by Tiroler Tageszeitung on Syria

Last Friday, one of Austria's leading newspapers TT (Tiroler Tageszeitung) published an interview with Professor Dr. Pierre Thielbörger, Executive Director of the Institute for International Law of Peace and Armed Conflict (IFHV). In this interview, Thielbörger was asked about the implications of current events happening in Syria after the recent and sudden overthrow of Assad.

Thielbörger reiterated the importance of the prohibition of the use of force in international relations and was asked about whether Israel's actions against Syria could fall under one of the exceptions to the prohibition of the use of force. Finally and after being asked about the legitimacy under Public International Law of Israel's actions in the buffer zone on the Golan Heights, he made clear that the 1974 agreement was still in force even after the recent events in Syria.

Tiroler Tageszeitung, a major Austrian daily, focuses on regional, national, and international news, offering in-depth coverage and analysis across various topics.
