WUN-Research on Business and Human Rights

Project Description

When discussing "Business and Human Rights", emphasis is usually placed either on the national level - where initiatives such as the french loi de vigilance or the German Lieferkettensorgfaltspflichtgesetz have received a lot of attention - or on the global level, with the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights or the proposed draft for a binding treaty on the issue. In doing so, the public and academic discourse neglects regional approaches to the topic.

The WUN research project is intended to fill this gap. The project brings together researchers from WUN partner universities in Africa, Europe, and Oceania to discuss regional approaches to Business and Human Rights, particularly in the fields of environmental protection, LGBTTIQ+ rights, AI, and business obligations during times of armed conflict. The results will be discussed in a workshop and are expected to be published in a joint publication.
